Democrat Jocelyn Benson is projected to be Michigan’s next secretary of state after beating out Mary Treder Lang during Tuesday’s election.
Benson, who has previously run for SOS in 2010, was beaten out by current Secretary of State Ruth Johnson in 2010.
The 41-year-old has run on a 30-minute guarantee at Secretary of State offices and is the former dean of the Wayne State University Law School. She is now the CEO of the Ross initiative in Sports for Equality.
