(WXYZ) — A number of local communities are holding elections tomorrow, with many putting school funding villages on the ballot.

Secretary of State jocelyn Benson says around 50 communities are holding elections. Benson says voter turnout is around 20 percent right now, and will be more than double the 12% that is normal for a May election.

While state officials have expanded absentee ballots access to conduct the election mostly by mail, the communities that will be voting will have one polling place open for those who must vote in person. These precincts will allow voters to requests their ballots and vote on the day of the election.

However, precautions are being put into place to protect both poll workers and voters. All who enter will be required to wear masks, practice social distancing at all times, and clean their hands after voting.

You can check your ballot and see if your community is voting on the Secretary of State's website.
