Vice President Mike Pence will meet with Governor Snyder, business leaders and Michigan families to discuss tax reform on Thursday.
He concluded his visit with a speech at American Axle Manufacturing in Auburn Hills.
Pence was introduced by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, who discussed Michigan's successful job creation outcome, calling it an "environment of success."
Snyder called Pence an "awesome individual" before introducing him.
Pence first addressed victims of Hurricane Maria.
"We are with you now," he said. "We will be with you every step of the way until the job is done."
After, Pence discussed President Donald Trump's plan for "what will be the largest tax cut in American history."
"President Trump is going to be the best friend American manufacturing will ever have," he said. "We've taken decisive action to promote and protect the words 'Made in the U.S.A.'"
Pence said since January, businesses have created more than 1.2 million jobs, with 125,000 new jobs in manufacturing across America.
"Confidence is back, manufacturing is back and, under President Donald Trump, America is back," he said.
He then went over four points in Trump's tax proposal:
The first point is to give working families a historic tax cut. Under Trump's proposal, the job tax credit will be expanded and death taxes will be repealed.
The second point is to make the tax code simple, fair and easy to understand by cutting seven brackets down to three. Pence said they want to make sure every American can file taxes "by themselves on a single sheet of paper."
Third, Trump wants to make American businesses competitive again.
"President Trump is committed to cut the business tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent," Pence said.
The last point he made was to divert company money from outsourcing jobs to invest in American workers.
"Unemployment in Michigan is lower than the national average," he said. "Tax cuts mean higher wages. This is the right tax cut. This is the right time."
He said this tax reform proposal "does not have to be a partisan issue." He urged citizens to call state representatives and senators, specifically Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
"Tell Debbie Stabenow Michigan needs a tax cut and Michigan needs it now," Pence said.
