Pontiac man who had COVID-19 allegedly assaulted ER workers, spit at doctors

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 25-year-old Pontiac man who was positive with COVID-19 allegedly assaulted and threatened doctors and nurses at McLaren Hospital over the weekend.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the man was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, and when staff began to stream the patient, he became argumentative and started assaulting them.

The patient was then placed in restraints and put into an isolation room.

When doctors evaluated the patient, he made verbal threats and said he was infected with COVID-19 and began to spit at the ER staff and physician.

Deputies were called and advised the suspected tested positive for COVID-19. The suspect was medically cleared and transported to the Oakland County Jail.
