PORT HURON, Mich. (WXYZ) — U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and field operators at the Blue Water Bridge seized nearly 600 grams of fentanyl during a special operation.
In January, officers identified eight different shipments through Canadian mail trucks that did not match the "manifested contents of the packages" and stopped them for examination at a station in Marysville.
The inspection revealed that the packages contained a "white rock like substance which were detained and tested locally and sent for further examination." Lab results confirmed each package contained fentanyl and meso-erythritol, a sugar alcohol.
The total weight of the eight shipments was 572.34 grams. Officials say the estimated street value was $15,000.
