President Donald Trump is expected to name Michigan Supreme Court Justice Joan Larsen as a nominee for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the New York Times reports.

Named to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2015, Larsen was a professor at the University of Michigan Law School for more than a decade, according to her profile on the Michigan court website.

She also clerked for late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia after graduating from Northwestern.

While at U of M, Larsen received the L. Hart Wright Award for Excellence in Teaching and still continues to assist the law school.

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals is based in Cincinnati and hears federal cases from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
