(WXYZ) — New information released by the government indicates that Michigan may be 10 days away from the coronavirus peak, and may see more than 3,000 COVID-19 deaths.
The White House released the projections during a news conference on Tuesday. They cover the entire country, as well as the individual states.
They project Michigan will have 3,007 death, with the peak coming on April 11, with a projected peak of 164 deaths occurring that day.
That projection follows one that says the state will reach a peak for hospital resources on April 10. However, as things stand currently, Michigan will be facing a 4,407 bed short fall if the projection holds. That would include a 1,506 shortfall of ICU beds.
Across the country, we are projected to be 14 days from peak hospital resource use, with that occurring on April 15. We would also reach the peak for projected deaths on that day, with 2,214 projected to occur.
According to the projections, the US is facing a projection of 83,967 deaths by August 4, under current models.
