(WXYZ) — Music artist and song writer Swae Lee of the group Rae Sremmurd was found not guilty after a fan claimed he was injured during an October 2016 concert when the rapper allegedly threw a water bottle from the stage.
The fan claimed he suffered an injury to his nose and was left with a scar after needing six stitches.
A jury in Oakland County court found Lee innocent Thursday, citing a lack of credibility on behalf of the plaintiff after he admitted to lying under oath.
“This victory today is a warning to anyone who tries to take advantage of people like Swae, who have earned their fortune and incredible careers through their own motivation and work ethic," said Lee's attorney Tom McGraw.
Lee was represented by Troy law firm McGraw Morris PC. According to a release, the plaintiff claimed that while he was at a concert at Royal Oak Music Theater with three other friends when Lee allegedly threw a water bottle from the stage in a "fastball pitch manner."
The plaintiff claimed that his nose was injured due to the alleged assault, and sued Lee for $500,000.
Lee said in court that he would never do anything to injure a fan.
