Record lake levels eroding shorelines, leading to destruction of Wisconsin house as new records are expected

(WXYZ) — A video feed of a house in Kenosha County Wisconsin teetering on collapse into Lake Michigan has drawn thousands of online views. But this could be just the beginning of major trouble from record high lake levels.

In St. Clair Shores this summer, water filled some streets, boat docks were under water, and sandbags and pumps were used to keep water off gas docks.

Experts with the Army Corps of Engineers say we could see more record levels next year.

In 2019 they were the highest in 100 years. That’s as far back as records go.

Ice on the lakes this winter can cause even more damage.
