Just last week, Dakarai Moore, Jr. was doing all the things any 12 year-old would be doing - like playing baseball - something he loves.

But his young life took a terrifying turn last Thursday.

His parents rushed him to Children's Hospital. They say doctors weren't sure what they were dealing with, but later diagnosed him with having a flesh eating disease - necrotizing fasciitis.

It was spreading fast and it became clear Dakarai's left leg would have to be amputated.

Dakarai's leg was amputated yesterday. The breathing tubes have now been removed. His parents feel so blessed just to hear his voice again.

The road to recovery will be long, but Dakarai's parents are convinced nothing will hold him back.

There’s no word on how long Dakarai will have to be in the hospital, but his parents say there are no signs of infection in his system now.
