DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit Police say the streets of the city are safer, now, that a man they call a violent predator is behind bars.

After a lengthy investigation, 32-year-old Lawrence Mills of Garden City is charged with purposely running down three women with his car. Two of them are dead.

Mills was formally charged today. Police say he committed these crimes in 2017.

Investigators say Mills targeted sex workers, women in southwest Detroit.

The cars detectives believe Mills used in these crimes were a gold or tan 2006 Trail Blazer or a dark colored Chevy Cobalt.

It was several years of dogged police work by DPD which lead to the arrest of Mills in late April of this year.

Now, they believe Mills is exactly where he belongs, behind bars.

Police do believe there could be more victims. So, they are urging them to come forward.
