The Detroit Public Safety Foundation is hosting its 2016 Above and Beyond Awards recognizing the work of first responders in the city.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday night in Cobo Center's Grand Riverview ballroom.
Awards will be presented for meritorious efforts in serving the community. They include the City Change Maker Award, Public Safety Partner Award, Medal of Valor and Purple Heart.
Police Chief James Craig and Fire Commissioner Eric Jones will attend the ceremony.
