Blight Busters founder goes after childhood home

Posted

John George has made it his mission to fight blight and improve neighborhoods.

So, when the founder of the Motor City Blight Busters discovered his childhood home sitting vacant, he set out to find the owner, so he could possibly purchase the property and fix it up.

However, finding the owner has been a challenge.

Property records show Anthony Glass purchased the home in 2012. In 2014, it went into foreclosure, but then someone paid the taxes.

Now, it's sitting vacant with waist high weeds.

Glass used the address of the home as his mailing contact.

"This is where I learned to be a blight buster," said John George. "I really want to buy it, fix it up and move my family here and have my 92-year-old mother over for dinner."
