The express and local lanes of I-96 in both directions will close between Wyoming and M-8 this weekend for work on the Cherrylawn St. pedestrian bridge.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the freeway will close at 9 p.m. on Friday and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.
Eastbound I-96 express lanes will close at M-39. The detour is southbound M-9 to eastbound I-94 to downtown Detroit.
Westbound I-96 express lanes will close between Livernois/Grand River and M-39. The detour is westbound I-94 to northbound M-39 to westbound I-96.
Eastbound I-96 local lanes will close from Schaefer Highway to M-8. The detour is Schaefer Highway to Grand River, then the I-96 service drive to Livernois to I-96.
Westbound I-96 local lanes will close from Livernois to Wyoming. The detour is Livernois Ave. exit to I-96 service drive to I-96.
The Greenfield Rd. on ramp to westbound I-96 will also be closed.
