A man driving a stolen car crashed into a DDOT bus on Detroit’s west side on Monday night.

Michigan State Police are investigating now. The driver of the stolen car is in custody, officers are still searching for two to three passengers who ran after the crash.

Police said only a few passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injurues.

One of the passengers, Habeeb Clarkbey said there were about 40 people on board at the time.

"I was on my way home from work and we came to a stop right here and the next thing you know we just felt a big old boom,” said Clarkbey.

He said he wasn’t injured but it was scary to witness.

“Man, the lights went out on the bus, one guy fell over, the other guy flew up to the front damn near, so it was crazy,” said Clarkbey.

Investigators said the chase only lasted a couple of minutes on Joy Road near Mendota when the driver suddenly hopped the curb.

"The driver of that stolen vehicle lost control and appears that he jumped the curb here and struck a city bus,” said Sgt. James Hemp with the Michigan State Police.

Again, investigators are still searching for two to three more passengers.
