The embattled head of Detroit animal control is out of a job.

Sources tell 7 Action News that Harry Ward is no longer in charge of the agency.

A new director, Melissa Miller, will take over the post effective Monday.

The change comes on the heals of a series of 7 Action News reports highlighting troubling conditions inside the facility, as well as ongoing protests from animal rights groups and pet owners.
