Members of a church that was destroyed after a driver crashed into it say they still want to stay open. so they can continue to give people of faith a place to go.

But, they need help rebuilding.

Members say a driver crashed into the church and then came through a wall.

Concrete blocks, beams, drywall and debris are all you see when you walk in to Christ First Church on Livernois on Detroit's West Side.

Police say on February 6th around noon a driver had a medical emergency, veered off the road and slammed into the church.  He was pronounced dead.

Since then church members have been praying for his family, while trying to figure out how to rebuild their house of worship.

It is a family church that has been around for about 30 years. Deacon Walter Johnson says it has been hard for parishioners too.

With the church not having any insurance, members say they will now have to rebuild - one brick at a time.

If you would like to help the church rebuild, a Go Fund Me page has been set up.
