Detroit Health Department investigating Hepatitis A case in Jet's Pizza worker

Posted

The Detroit Health Department is investigating a Hepatitis A case in connection with an employee at Jet's Pizza in Detroit at 15235 East 7 Mile Road near Hayes.

Those who consumed Jet's Pizza at this location from Nov. 30 through Dec. 11 should consult their doctor to receive the Hepatitis A vaccine as early as possible, the department said. Vaccinations should be received before Dec. 21.

The department is conducting a thorough investigation of the establishment to ensure appropriate food handling and cleaning protocols are being followed.

According to the health department, the employee stopped working at the establishment after the symptoms began, and cannot return to work until approved by their doctor.

The Detroit Health Department does not believe there is further risk of Hepatitis A at this location at this time.

A mobile vaccination clinic program will be held at the University of Detroit Mercy on Dec. 19 to provide easy and convenient access.
