Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said she has charged a Detroit man in connection with the kidnapping of a 6-month-old girl that prompted an Amber Alert earlier this week.
Michael Hunter, 21, is charged with one count of kidnapping. Police say Hunter went into a home in the 19190 block of Hoover and kidnapped 6-month-old Tonya Smith from her mother's arms. Hunter is friends with the mother, police say.
He then fled the home while the mother called 911. Police eventually located Hunter and Tonya, and arrested him the next morning.
Hunter is expected to be arraigned in 36th District Court on Friday.
