A Detroit may is facing federal charges, accused of trying to sell four "pineapple" type hand grenades.
Byron Tyrone Ross has been charged with unlicensed receipt of explosive material and the unregistered possession of destructive devices.
The 28-year-old is accused of trying to sell the grenades for $150 each. The criminal complaint says he was keeping the grenades in a shoebox inside his home.
The complaint also says that officials determined the grenades were functional, with a live fuse and marking that indicated they were US military equipment. The grenades contained smokeless powder.
Officials say Ross did not have a license for the grenades and did not register them as required by federal law.
He was ordered held by a US Magistrate, pending a Tuesday detention hearing.
