A Detroit man is happy after being reunited with his loved ones' ashes.
Gerald Cardinal was able to recover the ashes of his grandmother and uncle Tuesday from his car at Gene's Towing in southwest Detroit.
Cardinal claims he was beat up on July 10 and his car was stolen.
He tells us simply, "It was a crazy day."
The car was recovered, but it has been at the impound lot for three weeks - the ashes still inside.
We stepped in after finding out it was a misunderstanding between the two over money, and Cardinal got his wish.
He says, "I feel like crying, but I can't."
Cardinal still has not come up with the money to get his car out, so that remains at the lot.
