On Rosa Parks Boulevard near the Lodge Freeway, vacant lots are replacing blighted, abandoned homes.
“I’m happy to see them come down,” one neighbor told 7 Action News.
However, the progress hasn’t been problem free. As contractors tear down the houses, neighbors say they are leaving a mess behind.
Just about every sidewalk is broken, some cracked so severely, they are creating dangerous trip hazards. And the dirt used to fill in the holes, is littered with chunks of bricks, rocks and other debris, making it nearly impossible for anything to grow.
7 Action News contacted the Detroit Land Bank Authority about the issues and an inspector was sent to investigate the problems.
