A 19-year old female was arrested following a shooting on Detroit's west side that injured the niece of a Detroit Police officer.

The 24-year old victim was attempting to intercede in a confrontation that took place between her sister and the shooter around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 14800 block of Cherrylawn. She was hit by a bullet in her right side, according to a relative and was taken to Sinai Grace hospital.

Facebook posts played a role in the dispute that escalated with the gun shot, according to one of the victim's relatives.

The 19-year old took off after the shooting. She was arrested Wednesday afternoon at her mother's home.
