"I didn't go to sleep in the car. I was awake 24 hours," said the 79-year-old woman from Southgate who had been missing since Monday, and ended up driving 600 miles around Michigan before workers at a gas station on Detroit's east side contacted police.

Tuesday afternoon, workers at a BP Gas station in Detroit's 9th precinct contacted police when they spotted the senior citizen, who appeared to be confused, sitting her her car.

Detroit Police began trying to contact the woman's neighbors in Southgate and they were able to reach her daughter who drove to the precinct to pick her mom up and thank the officers for giving their family much needed relief.
