Detroit Public Schools responds to bullying problems at Mackenzie Elementary School

Posted

After 7 Action News exposed bullying problems at Detroit's Mackenzie Elementary School, Detroit Public Schools is taking action.

This comes after a 7-year-old tells us hands of bullies left him scratched and bruised last week. The mother of that 7-year-old told 7 Action News the school never bothered to notify her or do anything about it.

Earlier this month, 9-year-old Laila Gould was also beaten and bullied. She said she was on the playground when two girls pushed her down, punched her and kicked her in the head repeatedly.

On Tuesday, the school district pledged to hold anti-bullying sessions in each classroom for students and teaching. They are also promising that parents will be notified immediately of any future problems, and disciplinary action will be taken.
