Officials evacuated the Detroit Police Department's 5th Precinct after someone brought a grenade into the building.
The 5th Precinct is on Conner, near Mack, on the city's east side.
Police say the man found the grenade in a house he was cleaning and brought it to the precinct to turn it in. Officers say it looks like a World War II era "Pineapple" grenade.
The bomb squad was called to the scene, while streets in the area were blocked off. They took the grenade from the scene for disposal.
It is not yet known if the device was live.
Police say, if you find a possible explosive device, leave it where it is and call them.
