MoGo, Detroit's bike share, will offer free rides on Sunday to thank people for their support of bike shares.
The promotion will also help people enjoy Open Streets Detroit, an event that will provide opportunities for fitness, recreation and community building along 3.5 miles of roadway.
The normal $8 fee for a daily pass will be waived on Sunday. Charges will only apply for any individual trip that exceeds 30 minutes.
Riders can avoid charges by docking a MoGo bike at any of the system's stations before going over the time limit and taking another bike out.
"MoGo is helping transform transportation in the city, providing yet another option for Detroiters to get where they need to go," said Lisa Nuszkowski, founder and executive director of MoGo. "We hope this one-day promotion will encourage more people to get out and get active, whether they are participating in Open Streets Detroit or looking for another way to get around town."
