The Ford Firework display went off without a hitch over the Detroit River on Monday night.
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered to watch the show from the riverfront at Hart Plaza, Belle Isle and other popular spots around the metro area.
7 Action News talked with some of the spectators, who said it’s the best show in the world.
"I think it's a great holiday, it's the greatest holiday in the world,” said Walter Bell.
"I've been to DC, I've been to New York, they don't have anything compared to Michigan,” said Orlando Hamm.
The Ford Firework Display, happening a week before the official holiday, is a family tradition for many.
Suzette Beasly has been coming out for the last 30 years to watch the show with her family.
"Everybody is all hyped up and we're ready to go. Everybody is waiting for the ooohs and ahhhs,” said Beasly.
The police presence at this year’s show at Hart Plaza was very large. Officers worked to keep the peace and maintain the curfew.
There were no major issues this year.
