Heart-pounding moments as rescuers save injured dog from top of burned out Detroit house

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Volunteers with Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue got a call to rescue a dog that could be seen sitting on an old mattress in the burned out attic of a decaying house on Detroit's east side.

Theresa Sumpter and Jessica Rudder made their way up some old stairs to get to the top of what was left of the old structure.

But as soon as the dog spotted them, she ran out onto the porch overhang.

The rescue then turned into tense moments of hoping the dog wouldn't jump off the roof and using patience to see that the rescue was a success.
