Detroit's corrupt former treasurer has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Jeffrey Beasley pocketed bribes and kickbacks from city pension fund businessmen.
Federal prosecutors wanted him to spend at least 15 years in prison. That would have been the third longest sentence handed out among the 38 people convicted during the years-long federal investigation of public corruption in Detroit.
Former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who is Beasley’s fraternity brother, is serving a 28 year sentence.
Contractor Bobby Ferguson was sentenced to 21 years behind bars.
