Lions' fans hit by parking scam have their cars ticketed and towed

We hear this over and over, year after year about parking scams downtown taking sports fans for an expensive ride.

Yesterday a man posing as a parking attendant told people they could park on the side of the ramp from the service drive along I-75 onto eastbound Gratiot.

That was wrong and, when the people came out of the game, their cars were towed.

Mallory Mangov contacted me asking for help.

She paid the guy $10 when he said the city is allowing parking here this year. She also got hit with a $45 parking ticket for illegally parking and a $215 towing bill.

The city controls parking downtown.

Lots must have a city license and attendants have to wear badges. Don't get scammed, look for the city licensing to make sure you're dealing with legitimate parking facilities.
