Major water main break closes Detroit streets

Residents and business owners in southwest Detroit are dealing with another massive water main break near Westside Academy High School.

The road is closed at McKinley and Vinewood as well as McKinley and Buchanan.

Crews at the scene have shut off the water while they fix the problem, but now the flooded area has started to freeze over. The water main could be repaired as early as Friday, according to the Great Lakes Water Authority.

We're told about 40 residents on Buchanan Street will not be able to use their water starting today due to the size of the break.

This is the same water main that broke and flooded several blocks in 2014.
