Michigan State Police are investigating after a man pulled a woman out of her car and tried to rob her Friday night while she was on I-96.
According to MSP, the woman was sitting on the shoulder of westbound I-96 near Joy Rd. waiting for assistance after having some car trouble.
Police say a man approached the vehicle from the driver side door while she was waiting and then reached inside trying to steal her purse.
Then, police say he grabbed hold of her purse on the passenger seat, but the woman fought with the suspect. She was dragged out of the car as she held onto her purse.
The man told her to "just give it up," but the woman refused and said she called police and they were on their way.
That's when the man let go and took off on foot
Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 30s. He reportedly fled the scene in a blue vehicle which could be a Toyota Corolla.
The woman received minor injuries and some damage to her clothes, but did hold onto her purse.
