Detroit Police are on the scene of an officer involved shooting on the city's west side.
Police say five officers in all were involved.
The scene is at Joy Road and Artesian. The officers were responding to a shooting at a Coney Island when they spotted a man who fit the suspect's description.
The officers approached the man, who began waving a gun. The officers felt threatened and shot the man, who is now in critical condition. He has only been identified as a 59-year-old African American man.
None of the officers were injured. A 7 Action News crew on the scene said there are 3 bullet holes in a Detroit police car.
