Detroit police say a man is recovering after being shot while driving down the Lodge Freeway early Friday morning.
"You never get used to this type of stuff," says Edward Lauchie.
Lauchie lives less than a block from the off ramp where police said the victim ditched his vehicle.
'For this to happen in this neighborhood... there is a lot of people getting shot or robbed... I don't know what's going on," Lauchie says.
We're told the man ditched his vehicle at the top of the off ramp from the freeway, and neighbors say the victim was searching for help.
Michigan State Police say the victim heard a gunshot and then noticed he had been shot.
Lt. Michael Shaw, with the Michigan State Police, says the victim is not cooperating with investigators, however Shaw says a nearby surveillance camera may have captured an image of the suspect's vehicle.
"We are working to enhance the image so we can get a better look at that vehicle," Shaw explained.
If you have any information about the shooting you are asked to call the Michigan State Police.
