DETROIT (WXYZ) — A man is speaking out after he says he and his brother were shot at by accused cop killer JuJuan Parks.
That shooting killed his brother and left him fighting for his life. Just days later, police say Parks killed Officer Rasheen McClain.
Christian Calhoun was just released from the hospital. He says its been a heart wrenching few weeks since the death of his brother Dontez.
Christian says Parks deserves everything that's coming his way.
"My brother was dead. His face was on my face," said Christian Calhoun.
Christian still replays that day like it was yesterday.
"He shot at us. My brother was making a U-turn to turn around and he shot at us," Christian said.
Christian and his brother Dontez were driving over to go see his friend, Jujaun Parks, when he says Parks suddenly opened fire, killing Dontez and hitting Christian six times.
"I just laid there and waited and started praying," Christian said.
Detroit Police believe Parks is connected to this incident.
"We’re still doing more investigative work that’s not unusual. There are thing that we need to wait on, it could involve forensic evidence." said Detroit Police Chief James Craig.
"Potential other charges later on. But, we are investigating as deliberate and complete as we can and we will have further announcements if necessary," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
Just two days after the shooting of Dontez. Detroit Police officer Rasheen McClain was killed while responding to a home invasion.
Christian says he doesn’t know why his so-called friend would go on this alleged rampage.
"I just don’t believe that he we would do that. He took my brothers kids from him, he almost took me from mine," Christian said.
Christian says his brother was a big part of his life. He feels terrible for the family of officer McClain. He says Parks deserves whatever is coming his way.
"You never know what was on his mind. For him to jump out of a box and just shooting and killing everybody. He don’t need to be out here," Christian said.
JuJuan parks is set to be arraigned on Thursday.
Christian says his brother Dontez would have turned 32 later this month.
