Detroit police are searching for a person of interest they want to talk to after a teen found his mom shot to death in their Detroit home on Sunday.

According to police, they are looking for 38-year-old Earl Maxwell to get information from him.

Police responded to the 20000 block of Avon, off of Southfield north of 8 Mile in northwest Detroit on Sunday afternoon.

A 14-year-old son was in the back bedroom of the home and heard arguing. Police say he then heard gunshots and found his 42-year-old mom shot dead in the living room.

Police say he saw a black man driving away in a dark-colored vehicle.

Maxwell is described as a black man, 5-feet-8, heavy build with a large stomach, bald with a beard, yellow-stained teeth and a tattoo of "Latrese" written on his left arm.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit police.
