Mother of six kicked out of Detroit home she was renting

Posted

A mother of six says she was suddenly kicked out of a Detroit home she was renting despite paying the rent.

Now, her family has nowhere to go and the landlord can't be found, so she called 7 Action News.

Tracie Durley has lived in the home for about six months, and says a few weeks ago, bailiffs showed up at her home and told her she had to leave. She said they took everything out and put it in a dumpster in the street.

She tells us her landlord was in the process of buying the home from the Detroit Property Exchange and was told she stopped making payments and lost the home. She tried to get her deposit back or some sort of help from the landlord with no luck.

She, her husband, and children ranging from 11 years old to just 6 months old have nowhere to go.

7 Action News tried to contact the landlord and the company who owns the home several times with no luck. We will keep trying. In the meantime, Durley is just trying to be strong for her family.
