A 35-year-old mother on Detroit's east side is under arrest after operating her vehicle while intoxicated on Prince Hall Drive and Chene St.
She was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus while intoxicated northbound on Chene St.
At a high rate of speed, she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree head on.
There were two unidentified children in the vehicle with her at the time of the accident, an 8-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl.
The children were both taken to Children's Hospital. The 12-year-old is in critical condition, and the 8-year-old is in stable condition.
The driver was placed into custody and taken to the hospital.
