Owners of an abandoned old house sitting next to the new Detroit Red Wings arena are now asking for $4 million to give up the property.
A group of investors who own the home had been asking for $3.5 million last fall, based on where they see the market going, according to real estate agent Catina Willis.
“I am definitely excited,” said Willis. “That entire area is going to be alive.”
Willis told 7 Action News she has been getting a lot of calls about the 4,700-square foot, multi-family, three-unit house.
“Every single day I’m getting calls. Last weekend when there was the Winter Blast, I don’t know what was going on but I got a lot of out of area calls inquiring about it,” said Willis.
The long standing, weathered home was built in the 1800s. It has housed families as well as businesses. Public record show the house last sold for $25,000 in 2012. 14 years later, it is a possible gold mine but whether it sells is still be determined.
“The time is now. Don’t wait the price possibly increases. If you want to get in on it and take advantage of this opportunity to be so close to this new arena,” said Willis. “Who wouldn’t want to be apart of that,”
So far no offers have been made on the home.
