DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Detroit family is grieving after two of their loved ones were murdered on the city's east side.
The victims were Clarinda Rose Holcomb, 25, and Maleek Slater, 27, the couple were raising three young daughters together according to family.
In a press release, Detroit police said, Slater's body was found on May 26th at approximately 10:30 p.m. near the 5000 block of Barham.
Holcomb was found a day later, near the 4000 block of Pennsylvania in a vacant lot.
Police have released surveillance video of a person of interest.
On Friday, as a way to cope and deal with the tragedy Holcomb's family cleaned up the lot where her body was found of overgrown brush, trash, and debris.
"An innocent person murdered and discarded like trash," Holcomb's cousin Tiamakia Lipscomb said. "Which broke our family."
Holcomb's twin brother is still in shock.
"She meant everything to me," Daryl Holcomb told 7 Action News Reporter Rudy Harper.
The family has planned a vigil for Saturday where Holcomb's body was found.
