Police search for thief targeting church group

Posted

A request for help in finding the person responsible for breaking into a church group's home led 7 Action News reporter Ronnie Dahl to a strange encounter with a man claiming to be legally blind.

It all started at a house on San Juan Street.  It's owned by a church group improving Detroit and making a difference.

"There are a lot of people working together, making it a safer place for every body and a place where people want to live," said Tim Miller.

A thief has been setting back the group's good work by breaking into the home and taking the valuables.

Detroit police recently released a photo of the suspect, hoping to identify the guy.

Along with the picture of the suspect, police released the license plate number of the car the guy was driving. A good clue, except the plate came back to a deceased woman.

However, a family member said the car was now being used by the dead woman's son. 7 Action News Reporter Ronnie Dahl was able to track him down.
