A black nationalist group, protesting recent violence in the city of Detroit rallied on the west side - causing a traffic shutdown and a tense confrontation with police.
The group claims it was peaceful. And when we got there we didn’t see any violence. But officers say they were uncooperative.
Six Mile and Livernois was shut down amid a heavy police response, as officers clashed with a black power group New Era Detroit.
Members filled the street - blocking traffic and causing DPD to shut down the area.
At one point officers told 7 Action News the group was uncontrollable and backup was called, but officers kept their distance.
Many members of the group refused to talk on camera about why they were marching.
It appears no one was arrested as the crowd peacefully dispersed about an hour after forming.
Shortly thereafter, police called it off as well.
