Ford is not commenting on reports that the company is in talks to buy and rehab the Michigan Central Station train depot in Detroit's Corktown area.

The company released this statement in response to questions about the Crain's Detroit report:

At this time, Ford is focused on locating our autonomous vehicle and electric vehicle business and strategy teams, including Team Edison, to the Factory in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood. While we anticipate our presence over time will grow as our AV/EV teams begin moving downtown in May, we have nothing further to announce at this time.

Crain's is reporting that Ford is in talks to purchase the dilapidated train station from the Moroun family.

While Crain's says the exact status of negotiations is unknown, the magazine says sources are telling them a deal could come as soon as next month.

The Michigan Central Depot has been largely abandoned since the 1980s. However, the Moroun family has recently been rehabbing parts of the facility and it was used as the centerpiece of the Detroit Homecoming event in September 2017.
