It is a building that is home to the poor, disabled, and elderly, but is it safe? The people who live there say it has been dangerously hot in recent weeks because an air conditioning unit isn’t working.
The people who live at the Across the Park Apartments on Annabelle Street in Detroit say say it started just after the fourth of July. Thermostats inside read more than eighty degrees around the clock. They have asked for, but not been told any information on when it would be taken care of.
Rhonda Anthony says she is worried it will impact her neighbors' health. She lives here because a stroke left her permanently disabled. The Across The Park Apartments on Annabelle Street are federally funded apartments.
The people who live here are not only poor. They also must show they are disabled or elderly.
7 Action News called the management company for answers as to when this would be addressed. We were told that a contractor had been hired to fix a broken down air conditioning unit. Parts needed are expected in by Tuesday. The air should be running sometime next week.
