The sixth annual Motor City New Year's in the "D" event is taking place on Thursday, Dec. 31.
Thousands of people will gather downtown to count down the final seconds of 2015 and watch The Drop, which is the 7-foot glittering "D" go down.
It all starts at 4 p.m. at Campus Martius and Cadillac Square and continues until 1 a.m.
The free event features fun for people of all ages, and includes a Kids' Drop at 6:30 p.m. before the main event at 11:59 p.m.
Entertainment includes live music, food, drinks and cocktails from local food trucks and restaurants. There will also be merchandise, ice skating at Campus Martius and carriage rides.
