Two Detroit Police Department sergeants stepped into action to save the life of a four-month-old child.

That child had stopped breathing and was on the hood of her mother’s car when the police were flagged down.

Sergeants Charles Spruce and Douglas Nichols, with a combined 71 years on the force, teamed to rush the child to Children's Hospital, where the girl is recovering.

“This exemplifies Detroit’s finest,” said Chief James Craig.

“I am very grateful to the officers,” added the child’s mother Misha Drew.
