Concerned citizens gave 7 Action News videos that appear to show a dog being abused.
7 Action News alerted The Michigan Humane Society and Detroit Animal Care & Control so that action could be taken if investigators determined that the dog was in danger.
This afternoon, after hearing an investigator with MHS went to the house Sunday, 7 Action News went to talk to the owners of the 8-month-old pit bull.
In one of the videos, Brandy Byrd says it's her 8-year-old son. He appears to hit the dog a couple times and then kick her. But Byrd says her son would never abuse an animal.
Tipsters, who wanted to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, took the video because they say the dog is abused on a regular basis. They say adults and children have hit the dog.
7 Action News is waiting to hear back from MHS and animal control to find out what their investigators determined.
"This is the type of behavior that will precede a bite," says Kristina Rinaldi, Executive Director for Detroit Dog Rescue.
