Family, friends and colleagues of Detroit Police Sergeant Kenneth "Shark" Steil thought the 20-year-veteran of the police department would recover from a recent shotgun blast to one of his shoulders, but the married father of two young children died from medical complications Sunday.
Visitation for Sgt. Steil began Wednesday at Wujek Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral home is located at 36900 Schoenherr Road in Sterling Heights.
Wednesday's visitation runs until 9 pm.
The visitation will continue Thursday from 2 pm to 9 pm.
Funeral services for Sgt. Kenneth Steil will be held Friday, September 23, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church located at 22412 Overlake Street in St. Clair Shores. Service will begin at 11 am.
