The Detroit Police Department has captured a man wanted for assaulting his girlfriend and their 3-year-old child.

Officers say both the woman and child were knocked out during the assaults, which happened in front of three other children.

The suspect has been identified as Jessie Ruffin, Sr. Police say Ruffin punched and choked both victims.

Police say the altercation started as a verbal fight, which escalated into violence.

The woman is in stable condition. The children are also being treated at the hospital.

Before his capture, police say Ruffin should be considered very dangerous. Officers say this is not the first time he assaulted the woman. They are investigating if there are any other incidents.
